The first is Kasteel Ter Wallen in Merendree, a small village belonging to the municipality of Deinze, located at Veldestraat 21‑23; this is a simple, low, moated country house of about 1800, originally a 17th‑century fortified farmstead that was rebuilt after 1800 into a seven‑travee, two‑storey building with a shallow hipped roof, and since the second half of the 1960s it has been privately owned and restored, while the surrounding gracht and park remain part of the historic rural landscape of Merendree and are visible from the nearby roads and the river Kale.

The second site often mentioned in connection with Deinze is the 19th‑century moated estate Kasteel Ter Walle (also called Kasteel Ter Wallen) in Merelbeke, located at the crossroads of the Gaversesteenweg and Kerkstraat, which originated as the medieval Hof ter Wallen of the lords of Merelbeke and in 1859 was replaced by a new high double‑house on a rectangular plan with lower side wings, surrounded by a square moat and a park; this is a protected monument and rural heritage site.
