Kasteel Van Schoonhoven
Aarschot, Belgium, Belgium
Kasteel Van Schoonhoven is a historic castle complex in the town of Aarschot, in Flemish Brabant, Belgium, located along the Diestsesteenweg and set in a wooded park area.
The site has been known as Schoonhoven since the 13th century, originally as a moated castle on a motte, with a new U‑shaped neo‑classical main building erected around 1770 for the Van der Noot family, giving it a symmetrical front with triangular and curved pediments.
The estate also includes a small Baroque chapel from 1671 featuring ornate stucco work, as well as old fish ponds and the former Schoonhoven watermill, and today the castle and its surrounding park are protected heritage, with the park open to the public and the castle itself remaining a private residence that occasionally hosts selective visits.
