Kasteel Viteux
Nazareth, Belgium, Belgium
Kasteel Viteux is a stately castle and former country house in the centre of De Pinte (sometimes described as Nazareth‑De Pinte), a municipality in East Flanders, Belgium, located at Kerkplein 8 in the heart of the village and set within a large park (Kasteelpark) with a pond.
The building originated in 1847 as a neo‑classical country house built on the site of an old farm for Mme Verniers‑de Brabandère; in 1881 it was adapted for permanent residence and a park with a pond was laid out, and in 1932 it was significantly enlarged and remodelled into a small castle by N. Viteux, who added a dome‑topped tower, a columned portico and other features, giving it its present neo‑classical, castle‑like appearance.
During the Second World War the building temporarily served as the municipal hall, and in 2008 it was restored and converted into a luxury events venue for weddings, gala dinners and corporate gatherings, while the 19th‑century coach house and the former horse stables (1901) were preserved and now house Bistro Viteux and Café Viteux, making the whole estate a popular local meeting place and 2000‑square‑metre park‑garden that can be used for ceremonies and outdoor events, and since June 2023 the entire complex is officially protected as the “Kasteeldomein van De Pinte” heritage site.
