La Tourette, located in the commune of Éveux near Lyon, is internationally famous for the Couvent Sainte‑Marie de La Tourette, a Dominican monastery designed by the renowned architect Le Corbusier.

Built between the 1950s and 1960, it is considered one of the most important works of modern architecture and a masterpiece of the Modern Movement. Set on a hillside, the monastery combines concrete forms, innovative use of natural light, and spaces designed for prayer, study, and communal living. Its architectural significance led to its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of “The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier.”

Today, La Tourette remains an active Dominican convent while also welcoming visitors interested in architecture, spirituality, and cultural heritage. Its peaceful setting and groundbreaking design make it one of France’s most remarkable architectural landmarks.
