La Visite National Park, located south of Port-au-Prince in Haiti's Ouest Department within the Massif de la Selle mountain range, spans about 11,419 hectares up to 2,275 meters elevation and was established in 1983 to protect against deforestation.
It features pine forests dominated by Hispaniolan pine, montane broadleaf woodlands, grasslands, ravines, and cascades, serving as a biodiversity hotspot with endemic birds like the Hispaniolan trogon and chat tanager.
Just 22 kilometers from the capital, the park offers hiking trails with panoramic views, cooler highland climate, and ecological significance as one of Haiti's two largest protected areas bordering the Dominican Republic.
