Lake Enriquillo in the southwest Dominican Republic is the largest lake in the Caribbean and the lowest point in the region, sitting about 46 meters (151 feet) below sea level.

It is a hypersaline lake, meaning its salt concentration varies from levels similar to seawater to more than three times saltier. The lake covers around 380 square kilometers and is endorheic, with no outlet, located in a valley stretching across the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

The surrounding area is part of a national park and a biosphere reserve, known for its wildlife including the largest population of American crocodiles in the Caribbean, pink flamingos, and various bird species. Lake Enriquillo's water levels have risen significantly in recent years, which has affected nearby communities and landscapes, likely driven by increased rainfall, deforestation, and climate factors.
