Lake Plastiras is an artificial lake located in the Thessaly region of Greece, created in 1959 by the construction of a large dam on the Tavropos River.

It sits at an altitude of about 770 to 780 meters, making it one of the highest lakes in Europe, with a capacity of around 400 million cubic meters of water. Named after Nikolaos Plastiras, a Greek general and politician who conceived the idea, the lake serves multiple purposes including irrigation, hydroelectric power, and providing water to nearby areas.

Surrounded by lush forests of fir, oak, and chestnut trees, and framed by the Agrafa mountains, Lake Plastiras is known for its stunning natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. It is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, and paragliding, making it a favored spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
