Larnaca Salt Lake
Larnaca, Larnaca District, Cyprus
The Larnaca Salt Lake, located on the western edge of Larnaca in the Larnaca District of Cyprus, is one of the island’s most important natural landmarks and wetland ecosystems. Comprising a network of four interconnected salt lakes, it is a protected Ramsar and Natura 2000 site that attracts thousands of migratory birds each year. During the winter months, the lakes fill with water and become famous for their large flocks of pink flamingos and other waterbirds, while in summer the water evaporates, leaving behind a striking white crust of salt. The area is also home to the historic Hala Sultan Tekke, one of the most important Muslim pilgrimage sites in the region, making the lake a unique blend of natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage.
