Legzira
Sidi Ifni, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Morocco
Legzira is a small coastal area near the town of Sidi Ifni, in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region of southern Morocco. It is most famous for Legzira Beach, a unique and picturesque stretch of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is known for its dramatic red cliffs and spectacular natural stone arches that were formed by centuries of wind and sea erosion.
The beach itself extends for about 8 kilometers, with soft sand and scattered rocks. The centerpiece of Legzira Beach is a massive natural stone arch that juts into the ocean. Although two other arches once stood nearby, they collapsed in recent years, but the remaining arch continues to draw visitors for its magnificent appearance, especially during sunset when the rocks glow with intense shades of red and orange.
Legzira is popular with nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers. During low tide, it is possible to walk beneath the arch and explore the rugged coastline. The area is generally less crowded than other Moroccan beaches, offering a peaceful atmosphere. The beach also attracts surfers, paragliders, and those interested in quiet walks along the shore. There are a few small cafés and restaurants nearby where visitors can enjoy traditional Moroccan dishes like tajine with views of the ocean.
The surrounding cliffs and hills are equally striking, with palm trees and local vegetation adding to the region’s natural beauty. While development in Legzira is limited, there are some small guesthouses and hotels for people who want to stay overnight and experience the beach at different times of day.
Legzira’s remote location, about 10km north of Mirleft and 6km from Sidi Ifni, means it remains relatively unspoiled. Access is by road, with a short walk down to the sand. The tranquil setting makes it an ideal place for visitors who want to see stunning scenery and enjoy a quiet escape on Morocco’s wild Atlantic coast.
