Magoito Beach (Praia do Magoito) is a scenic 300-meter stretch of golden sand nestled along Portugal’s Sintra coast within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, just north of Sintra and near Azenhas do Mar.

Flanked by towering cliffs and backed by a 10,000-year-old consolidated fossil dune classified as a geomonument with Paleolithic archaeological traces, the beach offers a wild, untamed charm and striking geological features including sedimentary rock layers formed millions of years ago.

Its turquoise Atlantic waters are among the most iodine-concentrated in Europe, making it unique for health-conscious visitors, and the beach is especially popular with local young surfers and bodyboarders thanks to its consistent waves and multiple peaks. Though relatively undiscovered by tourists and off the beaten path, Magoito is accessible via a ramped wooden walkway (suitable for people with reduced mobility) from Estrada de Santa Marta, with parking available and Bus 444 running 25 minutes from Sintra’s center.

Facilities include a restaurant with breathtaking views (on clear days you can see Cabo da Roca), shower spaces, and food options, and the beach is known for a cherished Good Friday tradition where locals gather mussels.
