The Makronissos Ancient Tombs near Ayia Napa in Cyprus are a historic necropolis dating back to the Hellenistic and Roman periods, roughly from the 2nd century BCE to the 2nd century CE.

The site includes 19 rock-cut tombs featuring stepped entrances, rectangular chambers, and characteristic trenches used for burial rituals adhering to Greek customs. In addition to the tombs, there is a small ancient sanctuary and remnants of a quarry nearby, suggesting a larger settlement once existed here.

Although the tombs have been heavily looted over time and are empty today, their well-preserved architecture offers a unique glimpse into ancient burial practices. The site is open to the public with free entry and provides stunning panoramic views of the nearby Mediterranean coastline, making it a peaceful and evocative place to explore the region’s ancient history.
