Marley Beach
Australia , Australia
Marley Beach is a remote, unpatrolled beach in the upper Royal National Park, on the southern outskirts of Sydney, Australia, about 3 km inland from Bundeena Drive.
It lies within a rugged stretch of sandstone cliffs and is one of the largest and most scenic beaches in the Sydney metropolitan area, with a 360‑metre-long, south‑facing curve of sand framed by tall headlands and backed by extensive dunes covering over 130,000 square metres. The beach is popular with hikers and nature lovers, reached only by a several‑kilometre walk along the Bundeena–Marley coastal track, which offers some of the most dramatic coastal views in the region.
Because it lacks lifeguards and is exposed to strong southeast swell and rips, authorities regard it as one of the most hazardous unpatrolled beaches in the park, so swimming is not recommended and visitors are mainly there for walking, photography, and appreciating the wild, windswept landscape.
