Mavaleix is a small locality in the commune of Chalais in the Dordogne department of southwestern France.

It is best known for the Château de Mavaleix, a historic castle set amid the peaceful countryside of the Périgord Vert, surrounded by woodlands, meadows, lakes, and gardens. The château dates back to the 13th century and was largely rebuilt during the 16th century. It was closely associated with the Grenouillet family, who were influential ironmasters and played an important role in the region’s industrial history.

The castle has been protected as a historic monument since 1947. Today, Château de Mavaleix operates as a hotel and guest accommodation while preserving its historic character. The area is appreciated for its tranquil rural setting, heritage, and access to the natural beauty of the Dordogne countryside.
