Mayfield Garden, located near Oberon in Australia, began as a 2,100-acre sheep farm acquired by the Hawkins family in 1984 and has since been transformed into one of the largest privately-owned cool climate gardens in the world.

The garden spans 15 hectares open to the public, featuring diverse landscaped areas inspired by European gardens, including terraced lawns, a large lake, a Chinese pagoda, a croquet lawn, a sunken garden, an aviary, and an extensive box hedge maze.

Over several decades, the family invested tens of millions, creating varied horticultural displays that change with the seasons, such as the Paul Bangay-designed herbaceous border and the Valley of the Five Ponds. Mayfield Garden hosts seasonal festivals and offers visitors amenities like a café and gallery, while the surrounding farm continues agricultural production.

The garden combines natural beauty with architectural and design finesse, making it a unique cultural and botanical attraction.
