Mehun-sur-Yèvre is a historic town in the Cher department of central France, located near Bourges along the Yèvre River.

It is best known for the remains of the Château Charles VII, a magnificent medieval residence that was a favorite home of King Charles VII and an important political and artistic center during the late Middle Ages. Originally developed as a fortified castle, the site was transformed by Jean de Berry into a luxurious royal residence.

Many notable figures of French history, including Joan of Arc, Jacques Cœur, and Louis XI, were associated with the château. Although much of it was destroyed over time, its impressive towers and restored keep remain major landmarks. The town is also known for its porcelain-making tradition. Mehun-sur-Yèvre became an important center for porcelain production in the 19th century, and today the Porcelain Center showcases the region’s craftsmanship and industrial heritage.
