Mérens, officially known as Mérens-les-Vals, is a small mountain village in the Ariège department of southwestern France, close to the border with Andorra.

Home to around 166 residents, it lies in the heart of the Pyrenees where three valleys meet, surrounded by dramatic peaks, forests, and mountain streams. The village is famous for giving its name to the Mérens horse, a traditional black horse breed that originated in this region. It is also known for its rich natural environment, including protected habitats and excellent opportunities for hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

Mérens-les-Vals has a long history and is home to the former Church of Saint-Pierre, a protected historic monument. Its mountain setting and traditional character have helped preserve much of its cultural heritage.
