Molyvos Castle, also known as the Castle of Mithymna, stands on a hill above the picturesque town of Molyvos on the island of Lesvos in Greece.

Built on the site of an ancient acropolis, the fortress was developed during the Byzantine era and later expanded by the Genoese Gattilusio family and the Ottomans, giving it the form seen today. Because of its strategic position overlooking sea routes near the coast of Asia Minor, the castle played an important defensive role for centuries.

Its strong walls, towers, gates, and bastions helped protect the settlement and harbor below. The castle is one of the best-preserved medieval fortresses in the Aegean and is considered the second most important castle on Lesvos. Visitors can explore its ramparts, courtyards, and remains of historic buildings while enjoying panoramic views of the town, the Aegean Sea, and the nearby Turkish coastline.

Today, Molyvos Castle is a major cultural and tourist attraction, hosting events and performances during the summer and serving as a symbol of the rich history of Mithymna and Lesvos.
