Montbazon is a historic town in the Indre-et-Loire department of the Loire Valley, located just south of Tours.

It is best known for its impressive medieval fortress, which overlooks the Indre Valley from a rocky hill and has been a strategic landmark for more than a thousand years. The town's most famous attraction is the Forteresse de Montbazon, whose massive keep was built around the end of the 10th century by Fulk Nerra, Count of Anjou.

Considered one of the oldest stone keeps in France, the fortress played an important role in the power struggles of medieval Touraine and later welcomed notable historical figures including Louis XI and Catherine de' Medici.
