The river Mortagne forms much of its southwestern border, contributing to the natural landscape of the area. Moyen has a quiet rural character with low population density and is governed within the intercommunal structure known as Territoire de Lunéville à Baccarat. The terrain varies in elevation from about 236 to 347 meters above sea level.
