Nazaré Beach, also known as Praia da Nazaré, is the main beach in the traditional fishing town of Nazaré on Portugal’s central Atlantic coast, famous for its long, golden‑sand half‑moon bay facing powerful waves and dramatic cliffs above.

The beach retains strong local color with bright striped beach tents, colorful fishing boats on the sand, and women in traditional seven‑skirt costumes sometimes seen drying fish in the sun, blending tourism with an old‑fashioned maritime culture. It is popular with families in summer for sunbathing and relatively safe paddling near the shore.

While experienced surfers and bodyboarders use the outside sections, and nearby Praia do Norte has become world‑renowned for the record‑breaking giant waves generated by the deep underwater Nazaré Canyon. The town is easily combined with a visit to the fortress‑like church and lighthouse on the Sítio cliff, which offers one of the best panoramic views of the crashing surf and the long stretch of beach below.
