North Coast Regional Botanic Garden - Coffs Harbour
Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia, Australia
The North Coast Regional Botanic Garden is a 20-hectare eco-accredited green oasis in the heart of Coffs Harbour on New South Wales' Mid North Coast, located just one kilometer from the city's central business district along the wide waterway of Coffs Creek.
Opened in 1988, the garden blends a unique mix of natural coastal forests, rainforests, rare native plants, international gardens, mangrove forests, glasshouse plants, and beautiful flowers, incorporating several very different garden styles including a Japanese garden and sensory garden across its 20 hectares. The garden features five kilometers of flat, wide paths designed for easy wheelchair and stroller access, with seven different Discovery Walks through fifteen garden areas exploring Indigenous plant use and more, plus self-guided trails and monthly guided walks available.
Amenities include an Information Centre and Shop at the entrance selling local craftwork, gifts, plants, soft drinks, and ice-creams; wheelchair hire (free); two electric buggies with volunteer drivers for visitors with limited mobility (small fee, booking required); toilets; picnic areas; a lake; ponds; a pavilion/stage; ample parking; and wheelchair-accessible facilities.
The garden houses a seed bank and herbarium and offers a plant identification service, making it a center for education and conservation. The garden is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm (Information Centre and Shop open 9 am to 4 pm) with free entry, and serves as a perfect venue for weddings, functions, and events, while dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs.
