Odeceixe Mar Beach (Praia de Odeceixe)
Portugal, Portugal
Odeceixe Mar Beach, also known as Praia de Odeceixe, is a wide, scenic beach on the wild western coast of Portugal, right at the border where the Algarve meets the Alentejo, within the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina Natural Park.
It lies at the mouth of the Ribeira de Seixe river, so you can swim both in the ocean and in the calm freshwater estuary, which creates a unique mix of sea and river bathing in one place. The beach is long and sandy, sheltered by tall cliffs and backed by a small coastal village, and it is popular with surfers, families, and walkers who explore the nearby Rota Vicentina trail.
It carries a Blue Flag, has parking, toilets, bars, a tourist information point, and a seasonal tourist convoy from the village above, plus a small naturist cove called Praia de Adegas just south of the main stretch of sand.
