The Old Town of Bar, also known as Stari Bar, is a historic settlement located at the foot of Mount Rumija in southern Montenegro, a few kilometers inland from the modern city of Bar.

Dating back over a thousand years, it was an important cultural and trading center influenced by Byzantine, Venetian, Ottoman, and Slavic civilizations. The town is known for its well-preserved stone ruins, ancient walls, churches, aqueducts, and narrow streets that reveal layers of Montenegro’s rich history. 

Surrounded by scenic mountains and olive groves, Stari Bar is one of the country’s most significant archaeological and cultural sites, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into Montenegro’s medieval past.
