Orchard of Flavours, or Pomar dos Sabores, located near Tavira in southern Portugal, is a unique edible botanical garden founded in 2019 that brings together over 300 species of fruit trees and edible plants from subtropical climates around the world.

Situated just a few hundred meters from the Atlantic Ocean, the garden is dedicated to agroecology and sustainable fruit cultivation, exploring which crops can be successfully grown in Europe’s Mediterranean climate with minimal water use.

The garden features various planting zones designed to prevent erosion, improve soil fertility through techniques like mulching and composting, and promote biodiversity with ground covers and companion plants. Visitors can enjoy guided or self-guided tours, tasting freshly harvested fruits, and participating in educational workshops on propagation, food forests, and water-efficient gardening.

The project is led by Miguel Cotton and emphasizes sharing knowledge openly to inspire sustainable gardening and fruit production in similar climates.
