Pieusse is a charming village in the Aude department of southern France, located on a hill overlooking the Aude River and the Razès Valley.
With around 970 residents, it lies near Limoux and is surrounded by vineyards that produce the region's famous Blanquette de Limoux sparkling wine. The village has a long history dating back to the Gallo-Roman era and played an important role during the Cathar period. Its strategic hilltop position helped control access to the upper Aude Valley, and a Cathar council was held there in the 13th century.
Notable landmarks include the Château de Pieusse, the Gothic-style Church of Saint-Genest, and a 15th-century stone oratory.
