Praia da Adraga
Portugal, Portugal
Praia da Adraga is a picturesque, wild beach on Portugal’s west coast, nestled in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park just north of Cabo da Roca near the village of Almoçageme in Sintra.
It features golden sand surrounded by dramatic cliffs sculpted by the sea, with dark jagged rock formations, sea stacks, and hidden grottoes that add a picturesque charm. The beach earned recognition as one of Europe’s top 20 beaches by the Sunday Times and holds a Blue Flag designation for its very clean water, though the waves are often strong and the water is cold (17–18ºC in summer), making it less ideal for swimming but suitable for surfing.
accessible only by car via a narrow winding road from Almoçageme with a small car park next to an excellent beach restaurant called Adraga, plus toilets, showers, and summer lifeguard supervision. While it remains somewhat of a hidden gem compared to other Sintra beaches, it can get crowded on summer weekends, so visiting early or on weekdays is recommended.
