Praia da Areia Branca is a long, family‑friendly beach in the Lourinhã municipality on Portugal’s Silver Coast, about an hour north of Lisbon and just south of Peniche, known for its wide stretch of white sand and consistent Atlantic waves.

The beach has a relaxed, local feel, with a small river mouth often creating a calmer side area and a busier promenade lined with bars, restaurants, and shops along its full length. It is well‑equipped, holding a Blue Flag and “accessible beach” status, so it offers lifeguards in summer, toilets, showers, sunbed and umbrella rental, parking, and facilities for visitors with reduced mobility, while also being a popular spot for surfing and bodyboarding schools and youth hostels that attract young travelers and surfers. 

Overall, it combines everyday Portuguese beach life with good services and a slightly quieter, less crowded atmosphere than many larger resort destinations.
