Praia da Batata is a small, sheltered town beach in Lagos on the western Algarve, just a short walk from the historic centre and the Ponta da Bandeira fort, making it the closest and most convenient beach for visitors exploring the city.

It sits in an east‑facing cove bordered by reddish cliffs and rocky outcrops, with very little wave and calm, shallow water that is especially good for families and less confident swimmers. The beach is compact but well‑equipped, with sunbeds, parasols, a beach bar or restaurant, toilets, showers, lifeguards in summer, and options for kayaking and small‑boat trips into nearby sea caves and grottos.

At low tide it connects with the tiny Praia dos Estudantes around the headland, and its location near restaurants, cafés, and the marina gives it a lively, central feel while still offering a relaxed, sheltered seaside experience.
