Praia da Calada
Portugal, Portugal
Praia da Calada is a small, shell‑shaped beach tucked into a cove on the Costa Azul, about 10 km north of Ericeira in the municipality of Mafra, near Lisbon, Portugal.
It has a wide stretch of soft sand surrounded by tall cliffs and rocky outcrops, which shield it from much of the wind and give it a calm, sheltered feel even though it faces the Atlantic. The water is usually clear and good for swimming in summer, and the beach has been awarded Blue Flag and other environmental quality marks, indicating clean surroundings and monitored bathing conditions.
Access is via a paved road off the main EN‑247, leading to a small car park on the cliff top and then a short walk or stone path down to the sand, with a mix of local surfers and families enjoying the relatively quiet, unspoiled setting.
