Praia da Cordoama is a stunning, expansive 1.2-kilometer sandy beach on the wild and unspoiled west coast of the Algarve near Vila do Bispo, bordered by dramatic black schist cliffs over 100 meters tall and located within the protected Costa Vicentina Natural Park.

The beach is known for its soft white sand mixed with stones, powerful Atlantic swells, and strong regular waves, making it a favored destination primarily for surfers and bodyboarders of all levels, from beginners to pros, depending on the swell conditions. It holds Blue Flag status, certifying its excellent environmental quality and clean, safe water, with facilities including lifeguards during bathing season (late June to September).

A beach bar/restaurant, sunbed and surfboard rentals, and restrooms, plus free parking right behind the beach where spaces are usually available even on busy weekends. Connected at low tide to neighboring Praia do Castelejo and Praia da Barriga, the beach becomes nearly deserted when walking north along the shore except for a few naturists, and the area also attracts paragliders who launch from the high cliff plateau.

A unique microclimate often makes Cordoama misty or foggy in mornings even when nearby Vila just 5 kilometers away is sunny, sometimes clearing by noon, so the unpredictable weather and strong currents make it less ideal for sunbathing or swimming but perfect for experiencing wild natural beauty, long walks along the shore, and excellent surfing.
