Praia da Peralta, also known as Praia da Atalaia, is a wide Atlantic beach near Montoito in the Lourinhã municipality, on Portugal’s western coast, stretching about 1.2 km with fine, light‑colored sand framed by tall, fossil‑rich cliffs that shelter it from direct winds.

The sea here is relatively cold and often rough, making it attractive to surfers and bodyboarders as well as line fishermen who target sea bream and other local fish, yet the long, open stretch of sand also suits long walks and quieter sunbathing further from the more active waves. The beach is equipped with basic tourist amenities such as a bar or café, toilets, showers, and summer lifeguard presence, and it enjoys both a Blue Flag and an “accessible beach” label, meaning it is designed to be reachable and comfortable for visitors with mobility needs. 

Beyond its natural beauty, the area carries historical and geological interest, with nearby Jurassic‑era rock layers and fossilized dinosaur and pterosaur tracks, as well as the memory of the 17th‑century nau nautic disaster of the Galeão São Nicolau off this coast.
