Praia das Maçãs
Portugal, Portugal
Praia das Maçãs is a small seaside resort and beach in the Sintra‑Cascais Natural Park, on the Atlantic coast about 12 km west of Sintra and roughly 40 km northwest of Lisbon, Portugal.
It has a long stretch of golden sand bordered by low cliffs and a river mouth that gives the beach its name, traditionally said to come from apples washed ashore from orchards along the Ribeira de Colares. The beach is popular with locals and families, with a relaxed atmosphere, a small saltwater pool, a children’s play area, and a cluster of restaurants and cafés around the promenade, while its strong waves and consistent swell also make it a well‑known spot for bodyboarders and surfers.
