Praia de Afife
Portugal, Portugal
Praia de Afife is a long, scenic beach in the village of Afife in the Viana do Castelo district of northern Portugal, part of the so‑called Costa Verde coastline between Porto and the Spanish border.
It stretches for several kilometres along fine white sand backed by low dunes and green, forested hills, giving it a wilder and quieter feel than many southern‑Algarve beaches. The water is clear and often quite cool, with strong Atlantic waves that make it popular with surfers and bodyboarders, especially in the central and northern zones, while the southern end near the small Cabanas / Afife stream forms a calmer, shallow lagoon area more suitable for families and children.
The beach has carried the Blue Flag for many years and is well equipped with seasonal lifeguards, toilets, a snack bar, and wooden walkways through the dunes, making it a relaxed but active seaside spot between the towns of Viana do Castelo and Caminha.
