Praia de Miramar is a popular, long sandy beach in the coastal village of Miramar (Arcozelo), about 10 km south of Porto in Vila Nova de Gaia, known for its wide stretch of sand, occasional rock formations, and calm seaside atmosphere ideal for swimming and relaxing.

It sits near one of Portugal’s oldest golf courses (Clube de Golf de Miramar, established in 1932) and is surrounded by upscale homes, with full beach facilities including lifeguards, showers, toilets, bars, cafés, parking, and wooden boardwalks crossing the dunes. The beach is closely linked to the historic 17th-century Capela do Senhor da Pedra, a small chapel perched on a wave-beaten rock just off the shore that is the focal point of an annual local festival.

In summer the water averages around 16°C, the beach holds a Blue Flag for quality and safety, and while it’s usually busy with locals from Porto and nearby areas, its southern end near Mar e Sol Beach is quieter and backed by dunes that create a more peaceful setting.
