Praia de Ribeira d'Ilhas is a world-famous surf beach located approximately 3.5 kilometers north of Ericeira in the Mafra municipality of Portugal, situated right at the mouth of the river that gives it its name and nestled in a valley between high cliffs.

This exceptional beach is considered one of the best in Europe for surfing and bodyboarding, featuring a long, mellow right-hand point break that works over a combination of reef and cobblestones, producing waves that can run for over 200 meters and suit various skill levels from beginners to professionals. Since 1985, it has annually hosted one of the world surfing championship events, making it a regular stage for world tour competitions and earning it recognition as Portugal's premier surf spot.

The beach offers excellent facilities including a good car park, showers, toilets, surf schools, and several bars and restaurants that operate year-round thanks to the consistent flow of surfers, while also receiving Blue Flag, Quality Gold, and Accessible Beach awards for its quality and amenities. 

Summer seawater temperatures range from 17-18°C, and the valley geography provides favorable offshore winds more reliably than other nearby spots, making it work consistently at all tides except high tide with small swell, ideally around mid tide with east winds and west or northwest swells Despite its popularity and often crowded conditions due to its consistent waves, the beach offers multiple peaks that help spread the crowds, making it the ultimate destination for surf enthusiasts visiting the Ericeira surfing reserve.
