Praia do Marreco is a clean, family-friendly oceanic beach in Lavra, Matosinhos, near Perafita, on Portugal’s Costa Verde (Green Coast) in the Porto District, set in a bay-like cove with an extensive stretch of golden sand and a dune system that widens to the south.

The beach is ideal for families with young children because at low tide the rocks on the sand form small tidal pools where kids love to play, and there is even a playground nearby, while the calm waters and gentle surf make it safe for swimming and beach activities. It holds EEC Blue Flag and Gold Flag certifications, is an accessible beach for people with reduced mobility, and offers excellent facilities including sunshade rental, showers, outdoor parking, a bar, and lifeguard surveillance during the bathing season, with average summer seawater temperatures around 16°C.

The beach is bounded to the north by the Ribeira de Pampelido estuary and to the west by a massive islet about 200 meters offshore, and it can be accessed via Avenida Dom Pedro V, Rua do Marreco, or Rua da Agudela, with a secluded, tranquil atmosphere and moderate length that makes it a gem for those seeking privacy away from more crowded beaches.
