Praia do Martinhal is a large, family‑friendly beach on the Sagres coast in the western Algarve, about 2 km east of the town center, known for its wide stretch of soft white sand and relatively calm waters.

The beach sits in a shallow bay that is partly sheltered from strong northeasterly winds, making it suitable for swimming and for children, though the water can be quite cold even in summer. It is popular with windsurfers and other water‑sports fans because of the regular waves and frequent breezes, while also offering lifeguard supervision in season, sun‑bed rentals, and a couple of seaside restaurants serving fresh seafood and local dishes.

The shore is backed by dunes and low cliffs, with small rocky outcrops and a few offshore islets adding a scenic element, and the exclusive Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort sits just behind the sand, giving direct access but leaving much of the beach itself open and surprisingly uncrowded even in peak summer.
