Praia do Matadouro is a 250-meter rocky reef beach in Ericeira, Portugal, located about 50 km northwest of Lisbon at the northern entrance of this world-renowned surfing reserve.

The beach features a central strip of light-brown sand flanked by dramatic cliffs and rocks at both ends, with the Ribeira da Fonteboa stream flowing calmly into the Atlantic in the middle. During low tide, a large natural tidal pool forms on a rock slab, making it ideal for beginners and surf schools that frequently use this spot for lessons due to its consistent reef-bottom waves suitable for all surfing levels.

The beach has a laid-back, active coastal vibe with easy access to local cafes, a nearby skate park, and amenities like the Quicksilver store with its café, while also attracting anglers and offering multiple entrances with nice views. Though not ideal for traditional beach lounging due to limited sand space, it provides plenty of room in the water for the countless surf students and is positioned right beside the national road N247 near Ericeira Camping Park, making it convenient yet naturally beautiful.
