Praia Dona Ana
Lagos, Portugal, Portugal
Praia Dona Ana is a small, striking beach in Lagos on the central Algarve coast of Portugal, set in a sheltered cove within the dramatic limestone cliffs of the Ponta da Piedade headland.
It is famous for its golden sand, turquoise water, and photogenic rock formations and sea arches that frame the bay, making it one of the most photographed and often‑quoted “best beaches” in the Algarve. The beach is relatively compact but feels private and calm thanks to the high surrounding cliffs, and it carries a Blue Flag, indicating clean water and basic facilities such as a small restaurant on the sand, toilets, and sunbeds and parasols available in summer.
Access is by a staircase down from the car park above the cliffs, and while it can get crowded in July and August, it remains a favorite with visitors who want beautiful scenery, easy swimming, and a refined, classic Algarve beach atmosphere close to Lagos town.
