Rocher is a small rural commune in the Ardèche department of southern France, nestled in the scenic Ligne Valley and surrounded by hills, forests, and traditional countryside landscapes.

The village has a population of just over 300 residents and retains a peaceful, authentic atmosphere typical of rural Ardèche communities. Originally part of the neighboring parish of Joannas, Rocher became an independent commune in 1794. The village is known for its historic church, built in 1804 on the site of a former castle chapel, which contains notable religious artwork including a 17th-century altarpiece and stained-glass windows.

Rocher is also appreciated for its natural surroundings and hiking opportunities. Trails around the village lead to viewpoints such as the Virgin of Ranc Courbier, offering wide panoramas over the Ligne Valley, southern Ardèche, and even Mont Ventoux on clear days.
