Roquefixade is a small village in the Ariège department of southern France, set among the hills of the Cathar Pyrenees.

It is known for its peaceful atmosphere, scenic landscapes, and rich medieval heritage. The village is dominated by the ruins of the Château de Roquefixade, a medieval fortress perched on a dramatic limestone cliff. First recorded in the 11th century, the castle served as a refuge during the Albigensian Crusade and later became a royal stronghold before being dismantled on the orders of Louis XIII in 1632. 

Today, visitors can hike up to the castle ruins and enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, including the Pyrenees and nearby Montségur. The site is recognized as an important historic monument and is one of the notable castles associated with the Cathar region.
