Ruisbroek Castle
Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Belgium, Belgium
Kasteel van Ruisbroek, often called Château de Ruisbroek, is an elegant 18th‑century castle and event venue in the village of Ruisbroek, part of the Sint‑Pieters‑Leeuw municipality in Flemish Brabant, just outside Brussels.
The castle was built in 1784 by Count Karel Gilson in a Baroque style inspired by Italian architecture and covers about 5,000 square metres, set within a 16‑hectare estate that includes wooded areas, formal and Italian‑style gardens with water features and a large pond. The interior is richly decorated in a Baroque‑Italian manner, with antique furniture, paintings and several modifiable reception halls, including a main “Karel Gilson” reception room that can seat up to 500 people and smaller rooms for up to 150, plus a glass orangery and lounges for events.
Since the mid‑20th century the castle has been used primarily as a location for private and professional celebrations, especially weddings, cocktails, banquets, corporate events and cultural activities such as concerts and theatre, and it even hosted the Festival of Music of Ruisbroek. The building and its grounds are protected as a historic monument and can be visited by reservation, with access through a wrought‑iron gate and a long approach into the park, making it one of the most picturesque castle venues in the Brussels green belt.
