Rwenzori Mountains National Park, located in Kasese District in western Uganda, is a spectacular mountain wilderness best known for the legendary “Mountains of the Moon.” The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and contains some of Africa’s highest peaks, including Mount Stanley and Margherita Peak, the continent’s third-highest summit. Its dramatic landscape features snow-capped mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, and alpine lakes. The park is a premier destination for hiking and mountaineering, offering trails that pass through diverse ecosystems ranging from tropical rainforest to unique Afro-alpine vegetation.
