Saint-Huruge is a very small rural commune in the Saône-et-Loire department of Burgundy, eastern France.

With just over 50 residents, it is one of the least populated villages in the area and is surrounded by rolling countryside, fields, and wooded hills. The village has deep historical roots dating back to the Middle Ages. Its most notable landmark is the Church of Saint-Eusèbe, parts of which date from around the 11th century and which is listed as a historic monument.

Saint-Huruge is also home to the Château de Saint-Huruge, a historic castle that contributed to the village’s local significance and was associated with the French poet Alphonse de Lamartine, who found inspiration in the surrounding landscapes. Today, Saint-Huruge is valued for its peaceful atmosphere, historic heritage, and authentic Burgundian countryside setting. Its proximity to attractions such as Cluny and Cormatin makes it a quiet base for exploring the region’s cultural and natural treasures.
