Seven Mile Beach
Australia, Australia
Seven Mile Beach is a long, sweeping stretch of sandy coastline on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia, extending about 12–12.5 km from the town of Gerroa in the north to Shoalhaven Heads in the south.
It forms part of the Seven Mile Beach National Park, with a broad, gently sloping foreshore backed by dunes and low coastal vegetation that make it popular for walking, fishing, swimming, and picnics, and the beach is known for its relatively calm waves at the northern end near the Crooked River mouth.
The area is also historically notable as the site where Sir Charles Kingsford Smith used the beach as a runway for one of the first commercial flights between Australia and New Zealand in 1933, while today it remains a family‑friendly coastal escape only about two hours’ drive south of Sydney, within a protected national‑park setting.
