Sherwood Arboretum in Queensland, Australia, covers 15 hectares and was officially opened on World Forestry Day in 1925 with the planting of 72 Queensland kauri pines along a central promenade named Sir Matthew Nathan Avenue.

The arboretum focuses on Australian native trees, housing around 1,100 trees from about 300 species, with an emphasis on preserving local flora and providing scientific study opportunities related to forestry and timber production. It features parkland, an artificial freshwater wetland, and extensive river frontage along the Brisbane River.

The design, partly inspired by landscape architect Harry Oakman, includes elegant walking paths, scenic vistas, and mature plantings such as native pines and figs. Sherwood Arboretum is valued for its natural beauty, ecological role as habitat and water quality protector, and recreational facilities and has been heritage-listed for its cultural, scientific, and environmental significance.
