Verified Sylvan Grove Native Garden

Picnic Point, Australia, Australia

Sylvan Grove Native Garden is a tranquil 1.5-hectare bushland escape tucked away in Picnic Point, New South Wales, that serves as a hidden gem showcasing over 1,500 species of native Australian plants carefully gathered and cultivated from across the country.

Established in 1964 and maintained by Canterbury-Bankstown Council together with the Georges River Parkland Trust, the garden features winding bush tracks that wind through diverse displays including Hawkesbury Sandstone outcrop flora and a dry rainforest canopy over a fern understorey. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful slow stroll along the paths to spot wildflowers, towering trees, and amazing orchid displays while reading informative signs, or they can book guided walking tours that take about an hour.

The garden opens Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 4:30 pm between mid-August and late November, with no entry fee required. It offers nature lovers a quiet, relaxing slice of the Australian bush in the middle of the suburbs, perfect for clearing your head or studying native flora without traveling far.
