Verified Tasmanian Bushland Garden

Buckland, Tasmania, Australia, Australia

The Tasmanian Bushland Garden is a small, free-entry botanical garden and nature reserve located beside the Tasman Highway about 4 kilometers south of Buckland, Tasmania, roughly 50 kilometers northeast of Hobart.

Opened in April 2010 by Senator Christine Milne, the garden focuses on showcasing native Tasmanian plants, particularly those from the dry sclerophyll forest and scrub habitats of south-east Tasmania, with hundreds of native species displayed across 1.5 hectares of landscaped display gardens linked by well-maintained walking tracks.

The site includes 20 hectares of natural bushland centered around a 190-meter wooded dolerite hill with a lookout offering extensive views, plus a sculpture trail, memorial garden, children's playground, picnic shelter with tables and electric barbecues, public toilets, and a sealed car park. The gardens are maintained entirely by volunteers using donations and grants, open every day except Christmas Day during daylight hours, and aim to educate visitors about the region's impressive indigenous flora while preserving rare and critically endangered endemic species.
