The Botanical Ark Retreat
Whyanbeel, Queensland, Australia, Australia
The Botanical Ark Retreat is a private holiday home nestled within the award-winning exotic tropical gardens of The Botanical Ark in the Whyanbeel Valley near Mossman in Far North Queensland, Australia.
Voted one of the top 10 holiday choices in Australian House and Garden Magazine, this exclusive rental accommodates up to eight guests across four bedrooms and features beautiful timber furniture, wide verandahs, and modern amenities for a relaxing tropical lifestyle experience. The 8-hectare property was created over 40 years by Alan and Susan Carle, who transformed a former cow paddock into an oasis containing around 3,000 plant species and 400 tropical fruit and nut varieties collected from rainforests around the world.
The retreat emphasizes conservation through understanding and sustainable living in tropical environments, sitting neighbors to the world Heritage-listed Daintree National Park rainforest and just kilometers from the Great Barrier Reef. The property is solar-powered with 6.2 kW of solar cells providing up to 35 kWh daily, and while private guided tours are available on request, the garden is not open to general public tourism, only special groups.
