The Castle Rozerie
Aalst, Belgium, Belgium
The Castle Rozerie, also known as Kasteel De Rozerie or Landhuis Rozenhof, is a castle‑like country house in Aalst, East Flanders, situated on the Brussels Highway (Brusselse Steenweg) 75.
It was built in 1865 in a neoclassical style, replacing an earlier 1850s farmhouse, and stands on the lands of the former medieval moated castle of Overhamme, whose main building was demolished in 1948–46 while some outbuildings survived as houses. The estate is notable for its neo‑Gothic chapel, designed by the well‑known architect Jean‑Baptiste Bethune, and for a long, 130‑metre avenue of beech trees leading to the house, together with ancillary service buildings and a park.
Today the complex is no longer a private residence but a historic venue used for weddings, events, seminars, exhibitions and similar activities, and it has also served as a film location, adding a modern cultural function to its 19th‑century architectural heritage.
